A year from now, this will all feel like a dream.

A dream Angela Petrelli didn’t think was important enough to share.

It will seem as if Heroes: Reborn, the 13-episode continuation of a show that saw its best days a decade ago, had never happened.

Weeks before Robert Greenblatt more or less announced the second death of Heroes, we should have known it was over.

Eight Years Gone: Remembering Heroes Before They’re Reborn

I can count the most visceral reactions I’ve had reading news courtesy of the Internet.

There’s been three.

The first came sometime in 2011, when I was a sophomore in college. One night I was sitting in my bed in my dorm at Arkansas State University, browsing Twitter. At some point my brain registered the key phrases, “Michael Rosenbaum,” “Smallville” and “series finale” in some order and I somehow didn’t black out.

No, instead I leapt from my bed and danced in the middle of the floor.

The second came more than a year later, on Oct. 30, 2012.

I was sitting in a photo lab in the journalism department at ASU, actively avoiding whatever lesson was being taught that day. This may or may not have involved me photoshopping myself in to the twin sun set scene from “Star Wars: Episode IV.”

I have no idea if this put me in the right mind set to read the news that CNBC broke at 3:53 PM, once again via Twittter:

In the span of a few minutes I went through all five stages of grief and back again. I repeat the process once a week to remind myself I’m alive.

The third and most recent reaction worthy news is the reason I’m writing this and you’re reading.

Six Mistakes Heroes Reborn Needs To Avoid

There are still viewers and TV critics who are a little hesitant about the return of Heroes, recalling some of the series’ not-so-great moments in the later seasons, which made them forget that there were, indeed, good moments in those later years, too. (Lookin’ at you, “Cold Snap.”)
