There’s two things you should know.

First, I’m a sentimental person. This is evident from my drawer full of t-shirts from my high school years that I don’t wear, but refuse to part ways with.

One of those shirts was a “Save the Cheerleader, Save the World” shirt I got at Universal Studios in Los Angeles in 2008.

As of Thursday night and the premiere of Heroes: Reborn, a show promised to us many moons ago on Feb. 22, 2014, it still fits.

The satisfying first episodes of Heroes: Reborn, “A Brave New World” and “Odessa” are sentimental only when necessary.

Heroes Reborn came in third place in its timeslot last night with 6.03 million viewers and a 1.9/6 in the important Ages 18-49 demo. The show was against some heavy competition in the form of Thursday Night Football and ABC’s Shonda Rhimes shows, so that’s not too bad!

Nine years ago, I had been recruited to help NBC launch their “official/unofficial fan site” for Heroes, 9thWonders.com. While the site became a thriving community for fan discussion, it also wasn’t everything I was looking to do with covering the show, and that’s when things moved over here.

101-003Getting in on the ground floor with Heroes was exciting. It is an excitement that I’d imagine [or at least hope] others are going to feel at 8PM tonight (September 24) as Heroes is reborn.

I’ve seen the first three episodes — they’re solid. I still would hope for more “wins” and optimism, but I’m hopeful those things are coming. I’m really curious if new viewers will love it as much as I did. But what this all goes back to is nine years ago. Tim Kring and a group of writers, actors, directors, and other creative talents had a vision for a show. A show where ordinary people could be extraordinary. Years ago, they had names like Peter, or Hiro, or Matt. Now, we get to enjoy the adventures of Tommy. Of Carlos. Of Malina. Of Miko. Even of Luke and Joanne, who aren’t the biggest fan of the people we now call “Evos.”

heroesrebornposterThere will be surprises. It’s Heroes, after all.

Our Heroes Reborn forum is open for business if you’d like to come talk about it – I’d love to have some discussion going on, taking us back to the old days. Also, if you’re not following our @HeroSiteNet Twitter feed, you might not have seen that we posted an interview with new series star Zachary Levi, as well.

Watch! Tell your friends to watch too! I’m greedy, and 13 episodes is not enough for this fan. And, of course, keep coming back to this site… for news and spoilers, and Daniel McFadin is in for reviewing the new series, stepping in for the departed (but never forgotten, because he was and always will be amazing) Otto.

As Hiro Nakamura says in the Heroes Reborn trailer… “It’s good to be back.”

Heroes Reborn had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival tonight, and the cast of the new show was all on hand in addition to guest stars from the original series including Jimmy Jean-Louis (The Haitian), Greg Grunberg (Matt Parkman), and a grown-up Noah Gray-Cabey (Micah Sanders), which will never not be weird. Also present? The 100 actress Eve Harlow, who has an interesting role in the new show.

Below, you can find a whole lot of pictures from the event…. and if you’re curious to find out what we thought of the Heroes Reborn premiere, read our review at KSiteTV!
